PC World, Currys, Karstadt, Quelle.. the traditional retailer flog is in troubles

The recession and online revolution are shaking now the retail giants of Europe: PC World and Currys loose 140 million GBP, last year. Karstadt - the German shoppinggiant - and its direct write Quelle are broke. More retailers have posted losses and blamed the economy. The online channel, however, reported in the German and Dutch markets bright expectations for 2009. Their virtual business model make them less vulnerable: less stock, less square meters, less personnel, less capital intensive, less marketing costs.
