PRESS RELEASE
ICEcat wins Ingram Micro Europe as key customer in supporting cost reductions in channel.
Brussels/Utrecht, September 14, 2009: ICEcat, an independent worldwide publisher of product content online, announced that Ingram Micro has integrated ICEcat’s product content catalogue in its ecommerce platforms serving its EMEA (Europe, Middle-East & Africa) business. The unique benefits of ICEcat are that most manufacturers are actively involved in the quality process and its low costs as ICEcat is partly sponsored by manufacturers. Further ICEcat provides coverage guarantees and extensive lists of compatible options for most products. Jonathan Newman, Ingram Micro's Senior Director of Global Web says: “ICEcat has some unique vendor relationships that deliver exceptional benefits such as quickly keeping up with new products, helpful cross sell information, and competitive costs. By integrating ICEcat’s solution into our ecommerce platform, we can offer our customers a richer online experience with more purchase opportunities than before.
To support Ingram Micros growth within the AIDC/POS (Automatic Identification and Data Capture/Point Of Sale) markets, as a strategic partner, ICEcat has started working with key vendors in the AIDC/POS space such as Motorola for standardizing and integrating their product content. This will ensure that as Ingram Micro increases its AIDC/POS product offering,as ICEcat continues to provide content in this vital market and give the customer a thoroughly informative experience.
Open ICEcat is today sponsored by more than 200 major tech brands (see the list of sponsors: http://www.openicecat.com/en/menu/partners/index.htm). Distributing Open ICEcat will reduce the ecommerce costs for the channel, especially necessary in the current time of crisis, and enable the channel to better inform customers about products and compatible options. In a joint effort, key manufacturers that are not yet present in Open ICEcat are approached to join, so that new categories of product content can be added, and more free product content becomes available for the reseller channel. Martijn Hoogeveen, CEO of ICEcat adds: "Open ICEcat has become a channel standard, and most manufacturers understand quickly the benefits for their channel partners in improving content quality, reducing transaction costs, and increasing the online visibility of its products to generate more sales. Brands face the worst recession in at least 60 years, and see the rise of the online channel as an opportunity to compensate for falling sales in traditional sales channels."
