Chrome competing with Windows on the desktop
Google is upgrading its browser Chrome to a complete operating system (OS), competing with MS Windows. Chrome OS is incorporating a Linux kernel. The ambition is stupid simple: the internet is central to pc use, and the complexity of the pc OS should be reduced to the max so that it is not irritatingly slow anymore. Although the market share of Chrome is only a few percent, it is still significant that Google is throwing its weight behind a new and "open" operating system. This is all Microsoft needs to wake up completely, and improve its core software services.
