Channel Top 10 Still Dominated by HP

HP – it becomes boring – is still by far the champion of the online channel, as is the case in the physical channel. And as in the past, there is around a factor 9-10 gap between the runner up and the leader, in terms of data-sheet downloads (DDs). The runner up has changed, it is Lenovo that has taken over this position from Toshiba. Also Asus is continuing to do relatively well, climbing to the number five position. And Samsung is back in the top 10 by matching the average growth of the online channel as measured by ICEcat. The biggest winner in the top 10 is Fujitsu. The Japanese computer manufacturer Fujitsu (+200%, just outside the top 10 fast movers) benefits from a renewed focus on selling its computers, since Siemens left the joint-venture Fujitsu-Siemens Computers (FSC). Actually, one can state that Fujitsu successfully reclaimed the old market position of FSC before it became troubled by loss of focus and budget. The question is, whether Fujitsu aims higher and will battle for a top three position or that this was all the fireworks it's got. For DELL, to show up in the online channel top 10, we have to wait a little bit longer, probably till mid 2011.
