Testseek adds product tests to open catalog of ICEcat

ICEcat reached a deal with Testseek.com, an aggregator of product tests and ratings, to add their content to the free Open ICEcat catalog. This will be an interesting contribution for the 10,000+ on-line channel partners, making use of Open ICEcat.
There is an increasing number of aggregators of product tests and ratings. Internationally, apart from Testseek, there are players like Alatest and Testfreaks.
What is an test aggregator basically doing? Scraping test and rating information from other test websites and adding a calculation of an overall-figure summarizing the other scores. The idea is that if there is an average over all tests, it leads to a better value. Of course, this can be disputed.

Another type of aggregator is Testberichte.de. This German test aggregator is scanning printed magazines, assuming that the tests in the printed press are better than the online tests. There is no research data to support or falsify this claim. A German-based competitor with a similar approach is Testeo.

As online test information is purely scraped by softbots, and not by humans, it was a matter of time before one of the international aggregators would adopt the open catalog model, like ICEcat's one. It will provide Testseek the opportunity to join the most successful catalog for the online channel. It will not go unrewarded.
