Facebook dev: Android succeeds as Google caves to carriers | Electronista
I strongly diagree with facebook Joe Hewitt that Android's status as 'open source' is questionable. Facebook dev: Android succeeds as Google caves to carriers | Electronista. Open source is a legal, license choice, not a way of working or way of live ('vibrant community of developers'). Joe Hewitt confuses a personal collaboration experience, with the concept of open source: the license free distribution of software, including unlimited access to all its sources. The success of Android OS on the mobile platform is really to be hailed. Without doubt, it has already created a vibrant community of corporate developers, globally. The fact that Android is open source, lowers the costs of mobile products for consumers, and makes it easier for carriers and developers to add their code or change code. I really hope that Android will move to netbooks and other mobile devices.
