In 2010 Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) lost again significant market share (down from 67% to 60%) to mainly Google Chrome (rising from 2% to 7%) See Netmarketshare.com's browser market analysis. Firefox remains stable at 23.5%. Also the smaller rivals of IE, Apple Safari and Opera, are winning a little bit, but are not a potential threat to IE's top position like the two open source browsers (Firefox, Chrome).
As the market share of IE in November 2010 is actually down to 58% (6% down compared to November 2009), I expect that the IE market share will loose its dominance in the last month of 2011 or at least the first quarter of 2012. Of course Microsoft will fight back will all that it has, but this time it has probably found its master in Google. The days that Microsoft could dictate how the websites are looking are finally over.
